Katana website client Tribe Hotel Nairobi wins a coveted Hot List spot in the 2010 Conde Nast Hot 100, signalling the arrival of urban Nairobi on the global, safari, style trail with a fully grown-up, home-grown, independent, design hotel of some distinction. Their approach is best summed up in their own words, “Tribe takes hospitality back to its essence. Back to the nomadic days when any weary traveler was greeted with warmth, invited to feast and exchange stories, and rest in the comforts of home… a very comfortable home.
ONE PLANET ONE TRIBE.”

Tribe was also recently rewarded as a by the Kiwi Collection and named a “Wow Pick” so they must be doing something right. We hope our site design and build is playing a small but valuable part in their ongoing success.

Chucs Dive Shop, a new luxury leisurewear brand from Charles Finch, uber-agent, film producer, publisher, GQ contributor and thrower of legendary pre-BAFTA and OSCAR parties, opens its doors for business in 2011 with a boutique on Dover Street, Mayfair and an online store. With Chucs, Charles Finch continues to tread in the large footsteps laid down by his grandfather, George Ingle-Finch, inventor of the modern puffer jacket, and Peter Finch, oscar winning actor. Big shoes, well filled.

Chucs invited Katana to develop its digital presence with an online store that has initially opted for a simple, clean and functional layout to bring its line of extremely well made apparel to extremely well healed travellers and cognoscenti all over the world.

Online Store now open at www.chucsdiveshop.com
Green Luxury In Downtown Beijing

Parkview Green FangCaoDi in Beijing is gunning for the title of greenest property development in China. LEED Platinum status is hard earned, more so for a luxury commercial development, and more so in China; it is certainly unexpected. That it is conceived and developed by Parkview, the erstwhile owners of Battersea Power Station, should come as no surprise. Katana has worn a hard hat and seen it and can happily say that it takes your breath away…
Not only is the building an architectural masterpiece, it also houses the largest collection of Dali sculptures outside of Spain and one of the most important collection of Chinese contemporary art in the world. Inspiring stuff.

Katana was invited to present its ideas for a bleeding edge and integrated digital experience that intertwines the lives of tenants, visitors and landlord through physical, mobile and web based digital media.
Phase One pre-launch site for web and iPad.

The extraordinary new site for Energy Intelligence is ready and in BETA. The brief was to develop an online strategy that branded and unified a disparate set of business units that had grown up organically over decades into a tight cohesive inter-related suite of business propositions, and bring it kicking and screaming if necessary, into the digital age.

Credit must go to the stakeholders at EI who embraced a vision that included an advanced user interface (website design) that allows individual subscribers of their news service to customize their web pages, what information they want to find or be fed, and how they want to do, and manipulate their data via intuitive click-and-drag functionality as well as editing toolboxes.

We are proud of the results which you can see here

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times… In our little tale of two cities, we find new homes for both our London and Beijing studios. It’s hardly revolutionary we know, especially as we have contrived to stay in the same neighbourhood in both cities. There is a degree of comfort in familiarity we suppose, and like much of the work we produce for our clients and partners, evolution is the better path for us at the moment.

However, a change is as good as a break they say, and it certainly appears that way. The energy and vibrancy of Westbourne Studios makes us wish we moved our London home here a long time ago; and our new shop in Beijing has given our colleagues over there a similar new lease, figuratively as well as literally, of course.

We look forward to welcoming you for a visit soon.
